Costumes, Candy and Cuteness!

Thankfully most of the snow melted and it warmed up a tad before setting out for trick or treating.  The girls didn’t decide what they were going to wear until that evening.  Ironically I have been trying to get Makaylee to wear this poodle skirt of Madison’s for a couple of years now but she would have anything to do with it.  This year I just let the girls go through the box and pick whatever they wanted.  Makaylee chose to be a “Fifties Girl” and Macey chose to be a “Clown”.  I have to say Macey’s costume was so fitting. Ha!  Makaylee was absolutely tickled with the end result of her costume and made the comment that she even looked like a teacher, which is what she wants to be when she grows up.  Macey loved her costume as well.  I think this may be my favorite of these two yet…..simple but yet so darn cute!

Madison, aka Limpy, Crippled….helped hand out candy.  She had some very sweet girls from the eighth grade volleyball team bring by her a bag of candy because they felt sorry for her not being able to trick or treat. 

Mirror Mirror.....

on the iPod...who is the funniest of them all?

This video was quite the surprise and I have laughed at it until my stomach hurts. The story is Macey was playing with Madison's iPod in the car. Funny little girl didn't have a clue it was recording every little whimsical face she was making. We have also gathered from this video that apparently she likes to look at herself A LOT! The girls and I were rocking out in the car on the way to Madison's well check. I think the music in the video goes a lot better with the movie than the music here on the blog.....so mute the blog!

First And Sixth Grade – Day One

The girls were excited to get back to school.  They both had a great first day.  Mom had a pretty good day too and I’m pretty sure Macey did as well.  She never once asked for Makaylee.  Instead, she stuck to me like glue.  I think she is going to enjoy her alone time with her mom.  Her mom is going to take in every minute she can since this will be Macey’s last year at home before she goes to school too.

Madison survived her class schedule and rotation.  She was assigned merit classes for all four of her core subjects.  We are so proud of her.  She will also be learning to play the violin for the school orchestra.  That one should be interesting, I may be putting her in the basement to practice the first couple of months. I asked Madison when I picked her up how her day was on a scale of 1-10 and she said an eight. 

I took more detail pictures this year so the girls can look back at them my age and think what in the world was I thinking wearing THAT.  Don’t we all do it! Madison has turned into quite the fashionista in the last year.  She didn’t used to care what she wore but she has become very picky now.

  All the way to school Madison warned me I better not touch my camera once we get to the school.  She begged me not to take any pictures.  Madison honey….did you really think I wasn’t going to take a picture of you taking your first steps into middle school.  She stepped out of the car, telling me once again not to take any pictures.  I send my love and she walks on.  I figured I would let her get far enough so I wouldn’t embarrass her by taking a picture and she would never know it.  As soon as I got the camera focused and snapped the picture she turns around and busts me. lol  I love the look on her face….priceless.

Makaylee was so excited about school she couldn’t even sleep the night before.  She loves her teacher.  In fact on the way home she said that she was really nice and that she was her favorite.  Yea!!!!  It’s going to a good year.  She is already begging to ride the school bus.

         

Phineas And Ferb Said It Best

Well it’s that time for the girls to start back to school.  It’s a bittersweet time for me.  I will miss them during the day but I will enjoy being able to keep the house cleaner.  I think Macey will miss Makaylee terribly, they have really played and got along so good this summer.  I can’t get that silly theme song off of Phineas and Ferb……. “there’s 104 days of summer vacation and school just comes along to ruin it”.  

Here is Madison getting ready to leave for orientation day at school.  I asked her to smile and she gives me this cheesy fake smile.  I’m still trying to talk her off the edge regarding her rotating block schedule.  Geesh….it’s even confusing for me.  I promised her that they will help her understand it better when she gets there.

Makaylee’s school supplies.  This year’s choosing consisted of a little more grown up look.  We have two puppy folders as well but then we found out she doesn’t need them.  {insert frown} my little girl is growing up.

Makaylee sitting at her 1st grade desk.  She was a little shy and didn’t want me to take a picture until all the other parents and kids had left.  I figured I better get a picture then because I knew she would want to walk into the school by herself on the first day. I had her walk me from the car rider spot and her classroom to make sure she knew where to go.  I should have never even given a second thought, she knew exactly what she was doing.  I must say that I have a great feeling about her teacher this year.  She has been teaching for five years and has a little girl of her own.  She seems really nice and to have that touch with small children. Yea!!

Worth Toothing About

So we were sitting in church this morning and I catch a side glimpse of Makaylee’s mouth. I thought she had gotten chewing gum without asking.  So I asked her to open her mouth and let me see.  Oh how I wish it had been gum but no it was her first adult tooth coming through.  So I guess I will be calling the dentist first thing in the morning to see when we can an appointment to get her baby tooth pulled because it’s not even the slightest bit loose.  However the tooth next to it is a “little” loose.  I can’t believe she is going to lose her first tooth by having to have it professionally pulled. I have to be honest I’m not ready to see her beautiful smile with holes. (excuse the back molars…she just got through eating lunch and I should have had her brush her teeth.)

Beautiful Ears

At Makaylee’s request I took her and had her ears pierced for her birthday. She just woke up that morning and out of the blue asked to have them done. I tried to prepare her the best I could without scaring her away from the idea. I wasn’t too worried about her though, I knew she would handle the situation with a smile. After all, she was getting some bling bling. We looked at the earrings online so I wouldn’t have to battle with her in the store over which pair I was going to let her have. Automatically she chose the Hello Kitty but luckily I was able to talk her into something different without a single pout. Whew! I tried to talk her into some cubic zirconium but my girl likes color so color she got. She did absolutely wonderful. She squinted on the second ear because I think she knew what was coming with that one and afterwards she took a deep breath like she was glad it was over.

My New Six Year Old

We celebrated a special little girls birthday today.  Makaylee turned six.  She woke asking two things….1. if she looked different……2. if she sounded different.  I didn’t realize turning six was suppose to bring on so much change. lol  At her request we went to Chuck E Cheese where we absolutely racked up on tickets, a 1018 of them.  Wish I had taken my camera just to get a picture of all the tickets we had. She also requested a Littlest Pet Shop cake and of course that’s what she got.  She also got two more Lallaloopsy Dolls to add to her collection, one from each set of grandparents.  She also got her ears pierced at her request.  She received all three presents two weeks or more before her birthday.  So last night she brings me two stuffed animals from the playroom and asks if I would wrap them up for her and give them to her today.  Bless her heart, it made me feel bad because she wasn’t going to have anything to open….because you half the fun of your birthday is opening presents.  Lesson learned, gifts will be saved until her actual birthday…..well at least one gift will be saved.

I made the inside of the cake tie dye.  A really neat idea I learned off of Pinterest. The girls and neighbors that it was the coolest cake ever.
