Costumes, Candy and Cuteness!

Thankfully most of the snow melted and it warmed up a tad before setting out for trick or treating.  The girls didn’t decide what they were going to wear until that evening.  Ironically I have been trying to get Makaylee to wear this poodle skirt of Madison’s for a couple of years now but she would have anything to do with it.  This year I just let the girls go through the box and pick whatever they wanted.  Makaylee chose to be a “Fifties Girl” and Macey chose to be a “Clown”.  I have to say Macey’s costume was so fitting. Ha!  Makaylee was absolutely tickled with the end result of her costume and made the comment that she even looked like a teacher, which is what she wants to be when she grows up.  Macey loved her costume as well.  I think this may be my favorite of these two yet…..simple but yet so darn cute!

          

It didn’t matter how many times we told them not to run they just couldn’t control the urge.

Madison, aka Limpy, Crippled….helped hand out candy.  She had some very sweet girls from the eighth grade volleyball team bring by her a bag of candy because they felt sorry for her not being able to trick or treat. 

Church Egg Hunt

We had our church egg hunt giveaway today.  I call it a giveaway because it literally came a monsoon all day long.  So the ladies at church just bagged up the candy filled plastic eggs and handed them out that way.  Unfortunately due to the weather we didn’t have a very good turnout so the girls came home with two bags each of eggs.  Each bag containing at least 25 eggs.  We had a wonderfully guy there named Michael T. , who used to be the Youth Pastor there years ago, to do a really fun to watch magic show.  Macey was called upon to go up front to help with a magic trick but she wouldn’t budge without Makaylee arm in arm.  I allowed the girls to have one bag each and put the other three bags away.  After all the candy loot was out it looked like they just got from trick-0r-treating. During the thirty minutes of opening the eggs I heard,….this is my favorite…..I love this kind of candy……oh my gosh this is so fun……Makaylee Makaylee look what I got…….I’m eating these first…….Macey look you want to trade…..ok but I want good candy…..I love chocolate……mom mom look at this…..oh wow…..mmmm, these are so good….and lots and lots of giggling going on.

   

Lovebugs

I always like to start out Valentine’s Day with heart shaped pancakes for the girls.  This year I changed it up a little and made them pink.  I also packed Madison and Makaylee’s lunch with all kinds of heart shaped food thanks to my handy heart cookie cutters and snuck cute little valentines in their lunch boxes.  It was just something a little extra since they had their Valentine parties at school the Friday before.

Speaking of class parties.  Makaylee was more than thrilled when I came across these cute cards we could her picture printed on and price comparable to the store bought boxed ones.  She immediately requested one of her Halloween pictures with her wearing her crown.  Madison on the other hand wanted those cheesy boxed valentine cards.  What happened to those cute ones we had when we were kids and they actually came with an envelope.  Anyway, we did actually find some pretty cute ones after I talked her out of getting some buggy eyed animal ones she originally wanted.  Hey, I don’t feel bad…Valentine cards are suppose to be cute not creepy.  Madison chose mini Kit Kat bars for hers and Makaylee chose mini Air Head taffy.  When it was time to prepare their Valentines Makaylee was so excited she got the giggles.  I took out a lot of the prep work for Makaylee when I had her classmates names printed on her cards.  

   

When the girls got home from school after having their parties they were ready to spread their cards out on the table and show me what they got. Macey was so intrigued and all the stuff Makaylee had gotten.  You could tell Macey was a little jealous but thank goodness Makaylee has a sharing heart and gave Macey some candy without me even having to ask. 

Madison was the most tickled over her Pez dispenser her little boyfriend had given her. shhh…I wasn’t suppose to mention that.  My beautiful lovebugs!

Believe In The Magic…..

of Christmas.  It may be a lot of work but I love doing all those little extras to put a sparkle in the kids eyes.  I think Makaylee was the most excited this year…she’s just at that age.  Madison was this morning and I was a bit surprised it wasn’t Makaylee.  I was just glad I got to sleep to at least 7am.  They had a wonderful morning.  Loved their gifts.  It started snowing as soon as we began opening presents but it soon stopped.  I know my peeps in the south is loving all the snow they got today.  Unfortunately we had planned a day to DC but Scott woke up with the nasty stomach bug that has hit everyone of us in the past week.  So I will be taking the girls to the movies this afternoon.

Then off to check out the stockings and to see if Santa ate the cookies they left for him.  But oh were they in for a surprise.

Not only did Santa make a mess eating his cookies.  He left snow tracks inside our the house.  And the most shocking part was he left his glasses behind.  They must have fallen out of his pocket while going back up the chimney.  I’m so glad we were able to catch Makaylee’s reaction when she saw the glasses. 

 

Two weeks ago when the local fire department came through the neighborhood beaming their lights and blowing their sirens with Santa…Macey has asked for a fire truck ever since.  She was happy Santa was listening.

  

Santa Let Down

I tried to get Macey to sit in Santa’s lap at the mall the other and she wouldn’t do it. So when Toys R Us advertised that Santa and Jeffrey were going to be at the store this past Saturday I jumped at the opportunity to take the girls in hopes Macey would be less uncomfortable if she were there with her two big sisters.

What a disappointment Santa was. He was one of those skinny fake bearded Santas and you didn’t even get to sit in his lap. They just stood there for photo ops. On top of the Santa, who I would even be frightened of, Jeffery bent down to pat Macey on the back and bopped her in the head. Hard enough that she grabbed the top of her head with both hands. Jeffery felt bad…..hmmm…now thinking back I should have asked for sort of compensation…jk. Anyway, you can tell in the picture how timid she is. Afterwards I took the girls to the mall to visit with Santa there. Just as I had suspected, Macey clung to Madison for dear life. Glad I didn’t pay $14 bucks for a 5x7 kodak moment.

The positive we got out of the experience was the girls got gingerbread cookies to bring home and decorate. Madison and Macey whipped the icing and candy beads on theirs like the end of time was coming. Makaylee however took her sweet time and decorated her cookie the correct way….my little perfectionist.
